PD3 offers custom made-to-order flat silicone envelope vacuum bags. These bags have a perimeter “zipper seal” that forms a reliable and reusable vacuum seal around the perimeter. They are recommended for use up to 180°C/350 °C, and possibly higher. For up to 450° F applications, a high temperature option will be available in the future, if there is customer demand. The silicone membrane is approximately .125 inches thick, with a textured inner surface to prevent air entrapment.
Flat silicone envelope bags are used in lamination—particularly in the glass industry—as well as for debulking composite preforms prior to curing, applying pressure during bonding, and curing composite structures. In suitable applications, they may have various advantages vs. nylon single-use vacuum bags.
These advantages may include:
- Improved resilience against damage or leaks.
- Reduced usage of process materials like vacuum bag film and sealant tape.
- Reduce labor.
- Improved cycle time.
Custom sizes are available in dimensions as wide as 6 ft, and as long as 20 ft and pricing is generally based on the total area of the bag.
